As a Person-centered counsellor, I recognise that you are the expert in your life; it is not my role to tell you how or what to think and feel. Only you know how you think and feel about anything, and you will know what does and does not work for you.
As a facilitator, I am here to listen, encourage and support you in an honest and compassionate way. Providing a non-judgement space where you are safe to explore your thoughts and feelings without interruption or interference in your process of self-discovery.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is based on the idea that the way we think about situations can affect the way we feel and behave, I sometimes refer to this process as Think Feel Act;
If you interpret a situation negatively, you may experience negative emotions as a result, and those negative feelings might then lead you to behave in a certain way. To give you an example;
Imagine you are walking down a dark alley, on your own late at night and you 'Think' you hear footsteps behind you; How might you Feel? (Nervous, anxious, fearful?) How might you Act? (Walk faster, Run away, Freeze?).
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking treatment which focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems.
